Links with the community
Quote from April 2005 Inspection report:
“The school has developed excellent links with the local community”.
A diverse range of local charities are regularly supported, including Racing Welfare who, in collaboration with Fairstead House, hold a Carol Concert each year, with our young musicians and choristers taking a leading part. Harvest Festival gifts collected at our services are distributed to the Open Door Charity – which works towards the rehabilitation of homeless people in the Newmarket area.
We also support a number of national charities each year, including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Jeans for Genes, Unicef ‘Non-uniform Day, Operation Christmas Child shoe-box appeal and the NSPCC.
The school has also contributed to the rebuilding of a sports pavilion in Exning, which they now share with a local football club.
Visits within the local community are wide reaching and include the local police and fire station, churches, nature reserves, an Anglo- Saxon centre, sailing club and various local museums.
